The most overwhelming, sleep deprived, hormone overloaded, helpless time of my life was during the first months of my first daughter’s life. I didn’t trust my instincts enough. I worried constantly. Does she have enough food? Is she warm enough? Is it cool enough in this room? Should I start solids? Should I potty train? Is she ready for daycare? Is she ready for siblings?
I started reading parenting books, browsing blogs and mommy sites. What I needed most, was a manual. Somebody must have figured this thing out and should just tell me how it’s done! In a bullet format preferably.
I read and wept and tried hard to make sense of what made sense.
What I concluded was that every single one of us could benefit from the wisdom of others, their struggles, and lessons.
I read a lot, and it helps me reframe assumptions. So I started the MAGIC BOX, a collection of books that changed my life. I have three of them, one for each one of my kids. I will give it to them the day they turn 18, 21 or leave from college. Actually, I haven’t figured out the timing; I will see what feels right.
In the Magic Box are the books that cracked my soul open and made me understand things at a deeper level.
